- 2nd class Master degree of a recognized University Of India
- Degree in the teaching of an Indian University or equivalent qualification.
- 3 years experience of inspection work or teaching in school.
- Ability to undertake touring.

- Oversee matters related to Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes within the district.
- Manage salary and pension issues for secondary teachers.
- Inspect secondary schools.
- Implement various schemes at the secondary level.
- Conduct all administrative work for offices under the DI/S (Secondary Education).
- The District Inspector of Schools (Academic) coordinates in-service training for teachers.
- Responsible for school inspections.
- DI/S (Secondary Education) acts as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) for the District Inspector of Schools (Academic).
